Mango butter is extracted from the kernels of the mango tree by the expeller pressing method. The botanical name of Mango butter is Mangifera indica. It is rich in un-saponifiable making it a perfect emollient. The butter has a higher content of Oleic and Stearic acids giving it remarkable which exhibits humectant (moisture sealing) properties.
It is a hard butter with a relatively high melting point howsoever it gets absorbed quickly by skin if once liquefied and warmed. To make it more pliable and applicable, it is best used within cosmetic formulations. This is a tropical butter with a composition similar to that of Shea and Cocoa but with differing fatty acid content. Refined butter smells mildly sweet.
