Kokum butter is a hard butter, which is Typical soft in color, and which is extracted from the fruit kernel of the “garcinia” tree. The botanical name of this butter is “Garcinia Indica”. The method of extraction used for this butter is expeller pressed. This butter is non-greasy in nature that gets absorbed quickly into the skin. It is highly recommended not to use Kokum butter for stand-alone applications, rather use it as a substitute for cocoa butter. In order to prevent this butter from melting down, it is advised to store it in a cool, dark place.
Uses of kokum butter:-
1.It is an excellent emollient and contains high oxidative stability. Because of this, it serves as a major component in all kinds of cosmetic formulations.
2.It is rich in Vitamin E. It provides deep moisturization to dry, cracked skin by making it soft and supple.
3.Kokum butter applied in conjunction with body creams or oils helps in skin regeneration. It enhances skin elasticity and suppleness.

Constituents:
The main constituent of Kokum butter is stearic-oleic-stearic (SOS) triglycerides. It also contains 60-65% of saturated fatty acid.
